Echium Webbii

Echium Webbii, sometimes known as Webb Vipers Bugloss is a spectacular flowering evergreen shrub growing about 1 to 1.5 m high. Originally from the Canary island of La Palma. Upright stems covered in grey to silvery-green leaves. The stems are covered in pinkish blue to deep violet blue flowers during late spring and summer (depending on weather).

Also, it is best to plant Webb Vipers Bugloss or Echium Webbii in a sunny and sheltered position. It prefers a well-drained soil and is also drought resistant.

Looks fantastic in large patio tubs.

Many important pollinating invertebrates such as Bees and butterflies love the flowers on this plant.

Hardiness rating of 3, tolerating temperatures down to -5C or 23F. Protect the plant during severe winters using bracken, straw or frost protection fleece.

Packs of seeds now available.

Sow seeds undercover or in a greenhouse during March. Use a free draining soil. Prick out when seedlings are about 2–3 inches high.

Important note: All parts of this plant are poisonous and likely to cause rashes or stomach upset. Therefore, it is advisable to wear gardening gloves when handling this plant and never ingest any part of the plant. Do not let children play with this plant.
